Of Interest 01
(Writer’s note: I spent the last 2 weeks locked out of my website. Most of the time waiting to hear back from Squarespace customer service. It was my fault. I went an organization cleaning spree, deleted some accounts and forgot to transfer my squarespace email over. C’est la vie. The post below was meant to be published two weeks ago. We’re back though. I’m introducing a lists of curiosities and recent discoveries. Hope you enjoy.)
Good Evening,
This week I’ve tried to rest. Attempted. The first half of the year required persistence. There were moments of self-sabotage, failures, and compassion. There were few victories along the way. Today, I pick up my carte de sejour! I’m staying in Paris for another year. Behind the scenes was less glamour and today I’m relieved. I passed my French exams…barely but I passed. I wrapped up a client at the end of May. I finished my acting class. All this life going on I realized I made little time to sit down and appreciate this life.
So, I took a week of gratitude. A week to be with me. It was challenging. Yet, each day I tried. Day's catching up with friends, sitting outside watching boats pass, and binging Suits.
I learned that being present is where I can feel joy. That I have to choose what I’m giving my attention. Ya'll I keep trying to know it all when all that’s important is the moment in front of me. It will take practice but it’s one worth honoring.
Below I’m sharing some interesting things I read, watched, or listened to...
Newsletter I love
is newsletter is a jewel In fact, it’s all about beautiful things. I love interior decorating, imagery, and cuisine while tied around thematic thinking. Check out the Summer A-Z list post. I’ve already started on one of my own.
Learning by Questions
This video is aimed at freelancers or solopreneurs yet, I found Daya’s Build Your Curriculum by asking questions about what you want to know the subject reignited my interest in learning all over again. It’s learning in the best kid ( curiosity takes me away ) and adult ( I get to be the teacher) that makes learning seem refreshing. If you are considering learning something I think this would be a great starting point. You can start at minute 5:10.
Filthy Animals
Brandon Taylor’s Filthy Animals - My metro book for the month. Some short stories that were truly heartbreaking. It's a short read. I’m learning how to analyze and communicate my thoughts around books. Maybe a later post on what these stories evoked within me.
A wonderful Artist and friend takes you inside her artistic process and thoughts. She began self-taught and then enrolled in school. Her back story is inspiring. Once again fresh perspective on learning.
Aint I Pray For This?
Speaking of gratitude. I'm sharing a story from my book Daddy & Tea Cakes, that you can purchase here.
Game Plan
Some thoughts I wrote.
Wishing you a gentle evening,
